Local music organisation pleads for financial donations

ALEXANDRA – Locals are urged to lend a helping hand and help make these youngsters' musical dreams come true.

A local non-profit organisation that teaches music at three primary schools in Alexandra, is in dire need of donations for music equipment and financial support to transport instructors who help the organisation to teach hundreds of learners.

The Persistent Music Project that was established in 2010 by 42-year-old music instructor William Bapela who said the organisation is in dire need of funds both for instruments and to transport instructors who volunteer to help teach learners from Carter Primary School, Ikage Primary School and Iphuteng Primary School.

He urged the business community and community members to lend a helping hand and make sure the hopes and the dreams of local youngsters do not dissipate. “If we don’t get any donations to keep this vehicle going, we will be forced to close shop and the dreams of hundreds of youngsters that are part of this project will die a silent death. The project does not only help in teaching music, it also teaches discipline and takes them out of drugs and substance abuse.”

If you would like to make a donation to the Persistent Music Project send an email to persistentmusicproject@gmail.com or call William Bapela on 071 619 8173.
