Tit-for-tat murder accused gets bail

ALEXANDRA – Accused in tit-for-tat shooting death investigation gets bail.


A man who is accused of murder in a tit-for-tat shooting allegedly instigated by the victim was granted R3 000 bail by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court.

This pending further investigation of the incident reported in Alex News online article Tit for tat shooting ends in death [29 May]. The accused was said to have feared for his life after friends of the deceased seemingly raided his home and destroyed some family assets in a revenge attack.

The incident involved the two, said to have been acquaintances, firing shots at each other for unspecified reasons. After the fatal shooting, the accused is said to have surrendered himself at the Alexandra Police Station, seemingly for his own safety. Some of his family members are also said to have sought refuge elsewhere for their safety.

Investigators found that the gun used by the accused was licensed to him while the one used by the deceased has not been found.
