Herman Mashaba to make his oral submissions at the Alex Inquiry next month

BRAAMFONTEIN – The commission of inquiry will resume its oral submissions at the HRC offices in Braamfontein on next month.

The Human Rights Commission (HRC) said it would extend invitations to the political parties that have advocated illegal occupation of land in Johannesburg to make their submissions.

This was after the MEC in the Department of Human Settlements in the province Uhuru Moiloa suggested this should be done during the Alex inquiry into protests in April this year.

Speaking to Alex News at the inquiry, the chairperson of the inquest and HRC manager in Gauteng, Buang Jones confirmed they would invite political parties such as the EFF to present their arguments.

Jones also announced that the Alex commission of inquiry would send a summons to the director general in the office of the premier Phindile Baleni after she failed numerous times to appear before them.

The Alex inquiry will resume at the HRC offices in Braamfontein on 4 June where a number of government departments and mayor Herman Mashaba will present their oral submissions.
