Man wants accomplices convicted

ALEXANDRA – Accused wants accomplices at large by his side.

A man accused of housebreaking and theft appealed to the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to be convicted alongside his unknown accomplices.

The accused, Thato Ngwenya of Alex, admitted to the offence which occurred on the afternoon of 5 April at business premises in Wynberg. He was denied bail and will reappear in court on 22 May.

According to his confession, he and his accomplices broke into the place after the owner had knocked off for the weekend, and stole some tools, including hammers and jacks. When the owner returned to work the following Monday morning, guards alerted him to persons seen near his office in his absence. On entering the building, he found the items missing.

An investigator identified the suspects on CCTV footage. As he drove around on 30 April, he identified the accused walking along 2nd Street in Wynberg.

He stopped his vehicle, apprehended the man and handed him over to the Bramley Police Station, where he was detained pending the court appearance in which he pleaded to be sentenced with the accomplices he could not identify.
