Rugheimer to reconvene Riverpark community meeting after elections

RIVERPARK – Rugheimer say invasion of the Riverpark flats it's her major concern.

Ward 81 councillor Irene Rugheimer announced that a meeting to address major concerns in the River Park community will be held soon.

A meeting in March was allegedly disrupted by some members of the community forcing the councilor to reschedule another one.

Rugheimer said among other issues, the purpose of this meeting was to discuss City Power’s plans for the winter months ahead and the installation of prepaid meters.

“Together with City Power, we will contact key community members to have a meeting to discuss the issue of City Power and get buy-in from these people,” added Rugheimer.

“Once this has been done successfully, we will then arrange another public meeting and trust we can then address the power issues in River Park.”

On another issue, the councillor said there was a growing concern over the illegal occupation of flats in River Park adding that the City of Johannesburg was currently dealing with the matter.

“It has come to my attention that the invaders are complaining about the sewer system and the lack of power in the building, albeit the building was being occupied illegally.

“I did log this issue with the provincial government, as it falls outside the legislated competencies of the City.”

Rugheimer urged the community to work together. “My plea is that the community will join hands and strengthen the support for the betterment of our community.”
