Johannesburg Flying Squad arrest multiple suspects for various crimes

JOHANNESBURG – Suspects will appear in different courts facing different charges.


Johannesburg Flying Squad arrested seven suspects for various offences in Johannesburg.

The suspects were arrested during police patrols between 29 and 1 April, said the unit’s spokesperson, Sergeant Desmond Subramoney.

Subramoney added that officers recovered one stolen vehicle, two hijacked vehicles and two unlicensed firearms.

“The police arrested two suspects for armed robbery, four other suspects were held for possession of unlicensed guns as well as one suspect for possession of drugs,” he said.

“The stolen and hijacked vehicles which were recovered include a Ford Ranger bakkie, a VW Polo and an Audi A3.”

Subramoney encouraged members of the public to assist by working with the police in their efforts to combat crime.

He said they could do so by reporting crime and any suspicious persons or activities by phoning Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or visiting their nearest police station.

All seven suspects, aged between 29 and 42, were expected to appear in court soon.
