Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka strikes Goal of the Month for December

JOBURG - George Maluleka of Kaizer Chiefs strikes Goal of the Month for December in the Absa Premiership.


A spectacular strike by Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka against SuperSport United has won him best goal for December.

Mido, as he popularly known to both fans and teammates, had his goal voted the best by fans on the Premier Soccer League website. Mido, who was captain on the day, led from the front and produced a superb strike from the edge of the 18-yard area after a pass from Kabelo Mahlasela, a goal which saw Chiefs win 1–0 over Matsatsantsa A Pitori (the bourgeoisie of Pretoria).

This makes the 30-year old the first Amakhosi player to win the award this season and will be the first individual monthly award for Maluleka, who’s also had stints at United and Ajax Cape Town.

His strike was one of 10 goals nominated for the award, alongside Bradley Ralani, Lebohang Maboe, Jemondre Dickens, Tshwarelo Bereng, Rhulani Manzini, Salulani Phiri, Thembinkosi Lorch, Kabelo Dlamini and Thabang Monare.

Maluleka’s strike also ensured that one of the voting fans, Mzomuhle Mbatha from Randfontein, was picked as the winner of a Chiefs jersey. The winning fan gets a jersey of the team as part of the competition in choosing Goal of the Month.
