Open letter from Alex police spokesperson

ALEXANDRA – Arrest warning to those involved in illegal evictions.

Alex Police Station spokesperson Captain Stephen Malatji, writes:

In my personal capacity as a member of the South African Police Services serving the Alexandra precinct, I request those involved in evicting people from their houses for whatever reason, to desist from doing so and allow our investigations to take their course.

I call on you to allow us to investigate your complaints about the occupiers’ legitimacy of occupation and authenticity of their documents which are the subjects of your contestation.

I want to assure you that the police are working day and night to get to the root cause of these complaints. I ask you to let the law take its own course so that the truth can be revealed.

Therefore, I urge you to stop your unruly conduct which leads to the commission of illegal acts which diverts our focus to your crimes instead of your complaints. This delays the process of uncovering the truth to your claims.

I, therefore, ask you, comrades, to give peaceful investigations a chance so that we can reach amicable and justifiable results.

Arresting you serves the cause of those we could be investigating. Don’t get me wrong, if you don’t refrain from your actions we will indeed arrest you.
