ALEXANDRA – School acting principal has urged parents to come to the party and help their children achieve good results.

KwaBhekilanga Secondary School has successfully maintained its first position matric pass rate within Alexandra despite having faced challenges in the 2018 academic year.

In 2017, the school achieved 90 per cent which placed it in the number one position within the Alexandra area.

The school’s Class of 2018 achieved a 92.34 per cent matric pass rate, an improvement when compared to 2017’s 90 per cent pass rate.

The school’s acting principal Sethlano Makwela said their secret to success was the sacrifices and dedication from both teachers and learners at the school.

He said Grade 12 learners start a week earlier every year so that educators can deal with issues of administration and issue books to the learners.

Makwela added that the school is faced with a challenge of parents who don’t get involved with their children’s schoolwork and urged them to come to the party and help their children achieve good results at the end of the year.

This is how KwaBhekilanga Secondary School performed in the 2018 academic year:

• Total number of learners who

wrote exams: 139

• Bachelor pass: 60

• Diploma pass: 15

• Higher certificate pass: 14
