Minerva High School former dropout passes her matric with flying colours

ALEXANDRA – Keneilwe said she learned the hard way after she dropped out of school.

A 20-year-old former Grade 12 dropout, Keneilwe Mncube, who left the school and attempted academic shortcuts wants to make her mother proud again.

Mncube said the decision she made taught her the painful lesson that there was no easy way to success. “I left school two years ago to stay home for a year and went to a training college in an attempt to get a shortcut toward my academic success.

“However, things turned out to be contrary to what I expected. Last year I decided to swallow my pride and went back to school to pick up the pieces.”

To make her parents proud once again Mncube passed her matric in 2018 with a good mark that allows her to study towards a bachelor’s degree.

This year she will be studying social work at one of the country’s top universities.

She urged her peers to remain focused and pay no attention to the temptations of the world and challenges brought by peer pressure at school.
