Local model on a mission to empower young girls in her neighbourhood

ALEXANDRA – Semane said she will do whatever it takes to help her peers who are struggling with peer pressure.

The 2018 Miss Eagle South Africa finalist Sinqobile Semane has appealed to young girls in Alexandra not to associate themselves with a bad crowd if they want to succeed in life.

The 18-year-old from 4th Avenue spoke to a number of young girls at the Alexandra Hospice and Rehabilitation Centre. She told them to stop following the crowds, start loving themselves and have confidence in themselves.

“Through this journey of Miss Eagle SA I’ve learned that self-empowerment and self-confidence in life are key. You must always have a vision about your life, if you don’t have a vision, you will be compelled to follow other people’s visions,” she said.

Semane said she strongly believes in youth development. “After realising that there were many models out there but many do nothing to help young ones, I had to sit down and decide what kind of a model I would become. I then told myself that I will work hard to empower young girls in my neighbourhood and help them find their purpose in life,” she said.

Semane who is currently in a process of writing her own book will be flying the flag of Alexandra in the Miss Eagle SA grand finale which will be staged in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal on 9 December.
