Alex coach chuffed by Orlando Pirates assistant Rhulani Mokoena
JOBURG – Astute Orlando Pirates assistant coach Rhulani shares his coaching vision with aspiring coaches from grassroots football.
Aspiring coaches at the Powerade Performance Academy workshop at the Coca-Cola South Africa head office at Melrose Estate were dead-chuffed by the profound presentation of Orlando Pirates assistant coach Rhulani Mokoena.
They were so impressed by his incisiveness on football coaching dynamics that they vowed to embrace his philosophy and take it with them back to their grassroots clubs, schools and communities to benefit their young players.

One such chuffed coach was Alexandra’s Mosala Mafikeng, who mentors DRA FC that plies its trade in the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association Promotional League that started two weeks back and will end in May next year.
The side that wins the league gets promoted to the SAB League and Mafikeng’s team missed promotion by a whisker in the previous season. “I am keeping my fingers crossed that I clinch promotion this time around,” he said.
Mafikeng vowed to take all the tips and advice he got from a man he greatly respects and believes has a bright coaching future in this country. “I will implement all the tips he offered and the wisdom of his coaching philosophy that centres on a theme of human-centric coaching.
“I fully agree with his principle that a player is a human being first and an athlete next – hence you develop this person or persons around their wholeness as human beings and players later,” Mafikeng said.
“I have learnt a hell of a lot from the various presenters of the day and I am confident if I correctly implement their suggestions and principles, my team, community and the Alexandra football fraternity will greatly benefit and grow.”

He said he will also be sharing his knowledge and wisdom collected from the workshop with his peers in Alexandra through their regular coaches workshops. “I would like to thank the Powerade Performance Academy for organising this magnificent workshop and for the valuable information and knowledge shared by the expert presenters.”
Mafikeng also applauded his local football association for all the training opportunities offered to local coaches which he said were going a long way in helping them mould and nurture the country’s future players.
