Child rapist’s stiff sentences

ALEXANDRA – Child rapist gets two life sentences and more.

 

A child rapist was sentenced in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court to two life terms which are to run concurrently. He faced additional charges of kidnapping and assault for which he was sentenced to six years and six months, respectively.

Mpho Gram (38) of Phase Two Alex, stood accused of the crimes he had committed in respect of a 16-year-old girl and neighbour who he once cared for when she was younger.

Magistrate Gideon Schneitler, assisted by state prosecutor Matsidiso Letsoalo, ruled that Gram had to serve the lesser sentences first.

He raped the victim at his flat on 7 and 8 March 2016 after kidnapping and locking her up in his flat. He also assaulted her by kicking her with ‘booted feet’ and choking her.
