Easter holiday fun for Tsimologo Child Development Centre

ALEXANDRA – Memorable Easter for Tsimologo crèche kids.

Children at the non-profit organisation (NPO), Tsimologo Child Development Centre in Phase 2, will savour for a long time memories of the goodies they received for the Easter holiday.

The centre which was established in 1984 under the auspices of Child Welfare Johannesburg is now independently run by Pauline Makome catering for one to six-year-old children. The chattering children were proud recipients of Easter eggs from local NPO, Blessed Is The Hand That Giveth. This added to other eggs they had already received prompting them to also post drawings of the eggs on the entrance to the premises as part of their art skills development.

Mokome said, “It will be a memorable event to them with loads of stories to tell to their parents and other friends.”
She commended the bearer of the gift, Philemon Matume, for spreading the giving spirit of Easter. She said this is particularly soothing for children from mostly poor families who she enrols for free while the rest pay monthly fees of R300 to R330.

“We cater for parents so that they can go to work to earn a living. I can’ t stand seeing children of those who can’t afford, searching for food in rubbish bins, roaming the streets aimlessly and being exposed to the danger from traffic, sexual and other forms of abuse including even by relatives.”

Matume said the gesture was the little they were able to do in caring for the nation’s future. ” Some of them only hear of Easter eggs and will be tasting them for the first,” he said while asking potential funders to support the organisation so that many poorly resourced crèches in the township can be assisted.
