Mbopha’s alleged killer back in court today

JOBURG – The man accused of killing Alex businessman, Mbopha Mashigo to appear in court.

The man accused of killing an Alex businessman, Mbopha Mashigo, is expected to appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on 15 March.

The case was postponed previously in order to allow the state to do further investigations.

Among other things, the state was still awaiting forensic reports for the photos that were sent for analysis that the person captured on the CCTV footage is indeed the accused person.

During the accused’s bail application, the state told the court that it had strong evidence that linked the accused, Jonas Ramokgola, to the crime. Ramokgola was denied bail and remains in custody.

Prosecutor Godfrey Maphiri handed to the court cell phone records that placed the accused closer to the crime scene, contradicting his defence that he knew nothing about the crime and that at the time that the crime occurred, he was at his home.
