Residents encouraged to use Joburg Log and Look system

Joburg – Once you log on to the system and report your issue you will get a reference number immediately.

Residents of Joburg are encouraged to report their municipal services by using the recently introduced Log and Look, an application system designed to help residents report their basic municipal service issues.

Ward 81 councillor, Irene Rugheimer said it was essential that residents knew how to report their issues and receive a better response. She added that the system allowed residents to report their issues whether it be water, electricity, billing, or bad roads. All of the City of Joburg’s departments are listed on this system with contact numbers as well as Facebook and Twitter handles. These included City Power, Joburg Roads Agency, Joburg Water, Pikitup, Joburg Parks and Zoo, emergency services and the Metro police.

“The system will assist residents to log their issues and receive reference numbers, once they have done this and the issue is not resolved, they can send me the information and reference numbers to escalate their complaints,” said Rugheimer.

“Many residents don’t know where to report their issues, and therefore they send their issues or phone us as councillors to report on their behalf. And as councillors, we are sometimes busy in meetings and other work-related matters and cannot always respond immediately, and therefore, residents are left waiting.”

Asked what the response time would be if a resident reports service issues via the system, she said, “They will immediately receive a reference number. All entities have a different response time.”
