Zenzeleni wins cruel game
ALEXANDRA – Zenzeleni Primary School maintains an unbeaten record so far in the Discovery Cup.
Whoever coined the phrase that football is a cruel game, knew what he was talking about.
This happened to Dr Knak Primary School boys team when they lost 0–1 to their counterparts from Zenzeleni Primary School in the Discovery Alex U12 Schools League at the Number 3 Square Grounds.
Dr Knak had been all over Zenzeleni for 80 per cent of the match, making their goalie earn his keep and at times shooting wide of the posts. Dr Knak strikers were so clinical when it came to finishing and this was what cost them the match.

Zenzeleni, who was badly out of the game and never deserved to win this encounter, made use of the sole opportunity they got and put the ball behind the net.
It was through a beautiful header from Vuyo Nogqala, from a throw-in close to the corner spot and the Grade 7 Gunners FC player out-jumped the defence of Dr Knak to node the ball into the back of the net, and they were home and dry with 1–0.
For a huge chunk of the game, Zenzeleni never troubled the Dr Knak goalie but made use of the only opportunity they got in the dying minutes to secure a win for themselves and maintain their unbeaten record into the third week of the games.
“That’s the way the game goes sometimes. You can be all over your opponents, fluff your chances and live to regret it. The single chance your opponents get, they bury it,” said a disappointed Dr Knak coach Moses Maloka.

Nogqala, the scorer of the solitary goal, said he was delighted to have scored the goal that ensured his school remains unbeaten so far in the tournament. “My only wish is that we continue our good run in the tournament and go all the way to win it.”
The Discovery Cup game is an annual game that’s played every Wednesday afternoon at the Number 3 Square Grounds, starting from 13 September and leading up to the finals on 8 November.
