Police have more than crumbs on suspect

ALEXANDRA – Queue marshall wanted for street trader's robbery.

Taxi drivers assisted a street trader with information on the identity of his knife wielding robber.

Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said the information was central to the ongoing investigation of the suspect said to be a taxi queue marshall.

The incident occurred at about 3.45pm on 29 August in 3rd Street, Wynberg. The suspect asked the victim for the price of packs of biscuits and left promising to return to buy some. Minutes later he returned with three other men who then left. The suspect asked the trader for nine packets and instead of handing over money, the suspect allegedly produced a knife and threatened the victim before driving off in a vehicle that was parked nearby.
