After a long-standing partnership of 10 years, Absa has renewed its sponsorship of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) for a further five years.

“The last 10 years of this partnership have demonstrated that for a relationship to enjoy longevity, both sides must have common goals that glue them together,” said Khoza. “As we renew for a further five years, we would like to thank Absa for their trust and confidence in the PSL as the best vehicle for their message to millions of people.

“As we continue with the sponsorship, we do know that for this partnership to remain impactful, it cannot be business as usual, we have to continuously innovate to remain relevant.

“We are therefore excited about some of the innovations coming up in the 2017/18 season known as the Absa Premiership Rivalry weekends.”

Absa is setting the stage for players to bring on the magic and for the fans to bring the noise through the Woza Nazo (Bring it on) rivalry matches such as fixtures between city rivals, historic rivalry and David versus Goliath.

The season will see the 16 Absa Premiership clubs battling for the R10-million winners’ cheque of the championship. The league kicks off on 18 August with defending league champions Bidvest Wits playing Cape Town City at the Bidvest Stadium.

A day later will see the start of the Absa Premiership Woza Nazo campaign when SuperSport United welcome cross city rivals Mamelodi Sundowns to the Lucas Moripe Stadium for the Tshwane derby.
