Alex police attended to 22 priority crimes, 50 other crimes and arrested 64 suspects in the week ending 6 August.
Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said the priority crimes were:
- 4 for rape
- 6 for theft of trucks
- 2 for motor vehicle hijacking
- 4 for residential burglary
- 1 for business robbery
- 2 for house robbery
- 3 for robbery with a firearm.
Additional crimes were:
- 1 for sexual assault
- 12 for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm
- 19 for common assault
- 1 for robbery with an unspecified weapon
- 1 for common robbery
- 1 for theft from a motor vehicle
- 9 for general theft
- 6 for malicious damage to property.
Arrests were:
- 2 for attempted murder
- 2 for rape
- 1 for sexual assault
- 13 for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm
- 9 for common assault
- 8 for illegal possession of a firearm
- 1 for common robbery
- 1 for residential burglary
- 1 for malicious damage to property
- 1 for general theft
- 3 for shoplifting
- 19 for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles
- 9 for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- 2 for drug related offences.
