Murder parolee gets eight years for housebreaking

ALEXANDRA – The accused Lucky Nani (31) was found guilty by Magistrate Renier Boshoff for housebreaking and theft of phones and other household items at a Kelvin home in 2015.

A habitual criminal on parole was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment by the Alex Magistrates’ Court for house robbery after fingerprints linked him to the crime.

The accused Lucky Nani (31) was found guilty by Magistrate Renier Boshoff for housebreaking and theft of phones and other household items at a Kelvin home in 2015. His crime spree started when he was 19 years old and includes sentences for gun possession, attempted murder and a 22-year sentence for murder in 2003 for which he was on parole when he committed the 2015 crime.

He broke burglar bars and forced the sliding door open to gain entry into the house on the morning of 4 April 2015 when the owner was absent. In court, he denied the charge claiming that his fingerprints were found at the house because he had once been employed there as a casual worker. The homeowner denied the accused’s claim saying he only assigned his construction company employees for casual work at his home.
