#ICYMI: Feuding neighbours vent it out

ALEXANDRA – Neighbours destroy neighbour's wall, others feud over children.

Alex police are investigating cases of alleged malicious damage to property and assault between two sets of neighbours.

Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said the one incident occurred at a 12th Avenue home on 15 June.

The victim heard noises outside of her house and went to check. She found a man and his mother who reside in an adjoining house, allegedly breaking down one of the four walls of her house with a four-pound hammer. When she confronted them they told her that the wall was blocking their view of the street. By then, the wall had been destroyed. The total value of the damage was R6 700.

In the other incident neighbours on 13th Avenue were involved in a conflict over children at about 5.45pm on 16 June.

Kodisang said the complainant, who claimed to have been with her children, alleged that a male neighbour complained that her children were playing in front of his door. She disputed his claim and went back into her home closing the door, seemingly to his annoyance. The suspect allegedly shouted at her, kicked open the door and threatened that the matter wasn’t over. He then left. Damage caused to the door was estimated at R600.
