Police officer allegedly robbed of gun by four suspects in Alexandra

ALEXANDRA – Police investigate alleged robbery of gun from policeman.

 

Alex police officers are investigating the alleged robbery of a police issue piston, which was loaded with five bullets, from an officer.

Spokesperson for Alex Police Station, Captain Allie Kodisang said the incident occurred at 11pm on 12 May on the corner of 5th and Joe Nhlanhla avenues.

The victim exited a taxi with the gun in a holster on his waist and was allegedly followed by four occupants who he had passed next to a shack.

The suspects allegedly ordered him to stop but the officer ignored them until they caught up with him and stopped him.

All of the suspects were armed and one of them searched the victim and allegedly took the loaded gun and R1 000 from his pocket.

The suspects then fled the scene.

It was not specified if the officer was in uniform at the time of the incident.
