Alex Police Station had a successful week with 28 suspects arrested for a range of offences including murder and rape and 53 reported criminal offences attended to between 1 to 7 May.
Spokesperson for the station, Captain Allie Kodisang said the arrests were as follows:
- 1 for murder
- 1 for rape
- 10 for assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm
- 5 for common assault
- 1 for malicious damage to property
- 5 for shoplifting
- 1 for common robbery
- 1 for residential burglary
- 1 for business burglary
- 1 for general theft
- 1 for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Reported cases being investigated were as follows:
- 1 for murder
- 2 for rape
- 2 for motor vehicle hijacking
- 2 for attempted murder
- 1 for arson
- 3 for assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm
- 2 for common robbery
- 1 for residential burglary
- 4 for business burglary
- 5 for house robbery
- 1 for business robbery
- 4 for robbery with a firearm
- 1 for robbery with other forms of a weapon
- 2 for malicious damage to property
- 5 for theft of motor vehicles
- 3 for theft from motor vehicles
- 7 for general theft
- 1 for fraud
- 6 for common assault.
