The police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after Kelda Makwakwa, a 12-year-old girl was knocked down by a police van in Alexandra.
According to The New Age, the girl was killed on her way home from school near the Pan African shopping mall.
Although the incident occurred two days back, the parents of the child have still not seen the child’s body at the mortuary.
A health official who spoke on condition of anonymity to the newspaper explained that the victim’s father needed to be taken for counselling before seeing the child to protect him from further trauma.
No arrests have been made.
