Thaba Eco Hotel’s first art exhibit brings Joburg South artists together

On May 23, Thaba Eco Hotel's first-ever art exhibition brought together various artists from Johannesburg South.

Art fanatics had a blissful day during what was described to be the first of many art exhibitions hosted at Thaba Eco Hotel on May 23.
The occasion, curated by Esther Simons, was aimed at celebrating art and appreciating various artists from all walks of life within Johannesburg South.
Local versatile artists had an opportunity to showcase their work, which ranged from oil art, oil paintings to water colours. Attendees were also taken through the art garden walkabout and the event was closed off with a panel discussion, which explored the fundamentals of art.
Artists included Danie Hattingh, Nellien Bruwer, Dieter Berner, Wendell Bole, Cori Strydom, Ina Millman, Samantha Cilliers, Klarissa Botes and Tina Heine. They were also joined by Gulaam Karanie, Glynis Harrison, Natasja Farraz, Linda Nassif, as well as Etienne de Beer.
Thaba Eco Hotel co-owner and artist Reuben Louw said: “Thaba is all about celebrations and this event was all about celebrating life. We have incredible artists in the South of Johannesburg, and this was a platform for them to gain more exposure.”
Brontii-ann Pulford of Thaba Eco Hotel reiterated the event was the first of many more art exhibitions to be hosted at their facility.
“The theme was celebrating art and we wanted to bring artists to the South because we often have to travel so far. Thaba is all about bringing the community together and letting people know we are alive and letting them know that the South is nothing but a great place to be,” she said.
She also thanked everyone who got involved in making the event a success.
