Kleena Joburg campaign returns to Region F

During the first week, the operation focused on Sophia, Gantner, Peer, Rosina, Bellavista streets, including Kliprivier Drive, in Turffontein.

The City of Joburg Region F has once again embarked on a two-week-long Kleena Joburg Reloaded campaign.

This campaign focuses on clearing illegal dumping, collecting waste, cleaning streets, sidewalks, fixing water leakages, repairing road surfaces, unblocking drainage systems, cutting grass, fixing streetlights, removing illegal connections and enforcing adherence to the by-laws as part of accelerating service delivery in different communities.

The campaign, which forms part of the municipality’s strategy to revive and attract business back into the inner city, started on February 15 and will run until February 26.

The multi-departmental operation is aimed at transforming the City into a clean and safe environment for residents and address challenges of illegality and lawlessness in all regions.

The campaign is a progressive approach to eradicating challenges in the regions and to curb factors that contribute towards unfavourable living conditions for residents.

During the first week, the operation focused on Sophia, Gantner, Peer, Rosina, Bellavista streets, including Kliprivier Drive, in Turffontein.

Several City departments were out in full force, including City Power, Pikitup, JMPD, EMS, Joburg Water, Environment and Infrastructure Services, Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo.

Some businesses were found to have illegal electricity connections, which were disconnected on the spot. Law enforcement officials conducted stop-and-searches of vehicles and impounded some unroadworthy vehicles.

Region F acting regional director Roger Ganhes said, “I’m pleased that most departments are here to ensure service delivery is accelerated. Ward 55 is one of the areas that has been identified with major service delivery failures. This programme assists in ensuring all departments do their part and our objectives are achieved.

“It is indeed encouraging when there is a collective undertaking that heeds the call to accelerate service delivery and improve the living conditions of our communities.”
