Films to look forward to this year

Films are a great part of our lives and this year has a great line up for us.

We spent last year curled up on our beds and sofas, binging on everything that had sound and moving pictures – even if it was trash. This year may be sparking some hope of the outdoors, but films still remain a huge part of Friday nights and rainy days. Grab some popcorn and get ready for a year filled with great movie nights.

Here are some new releases to look forward to this year:

The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard

If you enjoyed The Hitman’s Bodyguard (2017), then you’ll definitely look forward to this sequel. This Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson combination is not only hilarious – it is also action-packed! Of course, Salma Hayek is not to be overlooked. It’s set to be released on 19 August this year and this time, Michael and Darius are on a quest to save Sonia.

Fast and Furious 9

The team is back and this time Don has to battle the one person who is better than him in every aspect. He drives better and he’s more dangerous and stronger. It’s Don’s brother. Fast and Furious has been a part of our lives for a very long time and it gets better with time! If you have been a fan since the first one, then you should definitely look out for this year’s release which is scheduled for 1 April 2021. Cars, tech geeks, muscles and sweat are the centre of F9!

Cinderella

This childhood story seems to be refurbished almost every two years. Scheduled to be released on 5 February this year, this version is a musical romantic comedy based on pretty much the same plot we have been exposed to our entire lives. Kay Cannon promises a couple of twists in the plot and that is totally something to look forward to. Will the stepmom be nicer? Will Cinderella choose not to marry the Prince?

Malcolm and Marie

Scheduled to be released in early February this year, this romance-filled drama is the perfect way to break into the month of love. Taking the picture approach of award-winning Roma (2018), this black and white motion picture takes you on a different love journey. It’s based on a couple discussing their past relationships and the aesthetics are to die for!

Boss Baby 2: Family Business

Yet another fantastic sequel to look forward to. This time Tom McGrath introduces Theo as an adult who pairs up with his estranged brother to prevent an evil genius from turning toddlers into monsters. This cute animation is enjoyable for the whole family and if you haven’t watched the first one, maybe you should before the release of Boss Baby 2 which is set for 24 March this year.

2021 has a lineup of great films for the whole family and every preference. From action, comedy and all the way to romance. Let the binging begin!
