14 and 15 The 58th Walkerville Agricultural Show will be hosted at the Walkerville Showgrounds on March 14 and 15 from 9am till late. You can expect a variety of stalls, chilli-eating competition, international food court and beer garden with live entertainment. To add to the fun, there will be a giant pumpkin competition, fascinating demos and exhibitions, livestock and farming implements. ATMs on site. NEW 21 Join the parade for the Festival of Chariots 2020 which starts at 10.15am on March 21 in Braamfontein (corner Stiemens and Simmonds streets (next to the Civic Theatre). The festival has often been described as a revolutionary One World Mardi Gras – hosted at all the major cities of the world. Festival of Chariots, or Ratha Yatra as it is traditionally known, is a ‘celebration of love which envelops the community’, marked by a conflation of colour, credence in chorus, energised dance and infusion of multicultural splendour. 21 Niche Community Market is a diverse group of creative sellers and food traders. The market is open every Saturday at the Walkerville Showgrounds from 9am to 2pm. Stall holders sell products like honey, jams, hand-made natural soaps, plants, fresh produce, aloe creams, cookies and biscuits, biltong, koeksisters, fudge and candy floss as well as a variety of crafted goods. 5 Jozi Urban Market is taking place. Stalls include gourmet coffee, craft beer and gin, fine wines, cocktails, exotic multi-cultural food, live music, local fashion and art. This urban attraction is most definitely the best hangout on the first Sunday of every month. Jozi Urban Market is situated on the fifth floor covered car park rooftop of Gold Reef Casino. The market runs from 10am to 3pm, giving you ample time to catch a meal, relax while sipping a craft gin or beer in the chill area, listen to soft live jazz or have family fun in the free Seeff Nerf Battle Zone. There is something for everyone, including car and fitness enthusiasts.
4 Stained glass workshop will take place in the tranquil settings of Henley on Klip on April 4. Come and enjoy a morning or afternoon with your friends and learn a little about stained glass work. Workshops last about three to four hours and you will complete a sun catcher, which is yours to keep. All tools and materials provided, as well as instruction. Workshops are aimed at people who want to try their hand at stained glass before committing to buying equipment and glass, and to those who only want a little fun. Each workshop takes a minimum of three people and a maximum of six.
