NEW 7 FACE 2 Face Mondeor Community Church Women’s Conference 9.30am to 1pm at the Mondeor Community Church Corner Columbine and Ashden Road. Entrance is free. Refreshments will be served.

7 STAMP collectors meet again. They meet every first Saturday of the month from 1.30pm onwards at the community Hall in the Thornhill Retirement Estate (close to the Greenstone Shopping Centre). They cater for the absolute novice right through to the more senior philatelists. We do exhibits, have trading and swapping and an auction. We discuss matters of interest. 7-8 TICKETS for the South African Book Fair are now on sale at Webticket. Highlights: Write Your Story workshop, facilitated by well-known writer and publisher Melinda Ferguson (Saturday at 10am). Melusi’s Everyday Zulu, a short Zulu crash course hosted by social media star, Melusi Tshabalala (Sunday at 10am). Constitution Hill Tour with Poetry hosted by Dr Gcina Mhlope and Tshepo Molefe on Saturday between 1pm to 3.30pm. Underground Booksellers Tour, hosted by Griffin Shea, the owner of independent bookshop Bridge Books, on Saturday between 10am to 12.30pm.

7-8 CALLING all wine, art and music lovers. The Henley Wine, Arts and Music (WAM) Festival returns. Festivities kick off on Saturday morning with wine tasting and art exhibitions at various venues in and around Henley-on-Klip. Saturday night will feature another spectacular concert with WR Jazz and Rock Orchestra performing music ranging from popular film and television themes, musicals, pop and rock hits and even gaming music. JazzKLLR will join the orchestra for a few numbers and the girls from Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy will also perform. 8 – 29 STORY Book Theatre runs at Peoples Theatre at the Joburg Theatre Complex from September 8 to September 29. Performance times are Mondays to Friday at 9am and 11am, Saturdays at 10:30am and 2.30pm as well as all Sundays and public holidays. Ticket prices are R140 for general public or R100 for members of the Peoples Theatre Kids Club. Story Book Theatre is aimed at young audiences, generally from three to 10 years, and is one event Johannesburg’s youngsters should not miss this spring.
