Suzuki once again breaks record

June this year the Japanese vehicle manufacturer set an internal sales record by selling 1 479 units.

Even though the new vehicle market is down from the previous year, Suzuki has managed to set a sales record in June this year. In July 2019 Suzuki has managed to break this sales record by 6.6 per cent or 1 577 units.  The Japanese manufacturer finds itself within the Top 10 new vehicle sales ranking in the local market space, occupying 3.4 per cent of the overall market and 5.03% of the passenger vehicle market.

While the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa) reported a decline for new vehicle sales in July 2019 in comparison to July 2018, Suzuki continues to show growth and celebrated the addition of its 75 000th customer earlier this month. While Suzuki only opened its doors just over a decade ago in South Africa, it has continuously shown growth and now even more so after the Swift and Jimny models were both recognised as category-winners at the 2019 Auto Trader SAGMJ Car of the Year Awards it opened its doors in the country. Even though the new vehicle market is in a decline, Suzuki remains positive with the addition of the Swift Sport (Read more here) and the Vitara Turbo models (Read more here) which will hit the dealer floors in August 2019.

“Suzuki has been following a very optimistic strategy, as the market has shrunk, we invested in new dealers and new products, with the firm belief that people tend to recognise and choose a good value for money products when money is tight.” André Venter, Divisional Manager of Sales and Marketing, Suzuki Auto South Africa.
