24 IT is back to basics for parents who can laugh at themselves. Revival City College is offering a parenting course, Dummies for Parents, on August 24 from 8am to 4pm. NEW 7-8 CALLING all wine, art and music lovers. The Henley Wine, Arts and Music (WAM) Festival returns on the weekend of September 7 and 8. Festivities kick off on Saturday morning with wine tasting and art exhibitions at various venues in and around Henley-on-Klip. Saturday night will feature another spectacular concert with WR Jazz and Rock Orchestra performing music ranging from popular film and television themes, musicals, pop and rock hits and gaming music. JazzKLLR will join the orchestra for a few numbers and the girls from Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy will also perform. Timothy is the guest speaker/entertainer at the Stepping Stone Hospice’s annual Come Whine With Me event, to be hosted on September 7. This event is known as a great get-together for the ladies in town, where wine-tasting, finger lunch and loads of laughter and fun is scheduled for the day. 7 STAMP collectors meet again on September 7. They meet every first Saturday of the month from 1.30pm onwards at the community hall in the Thornhill Retirement Estate (close to Greenstone Shopping Mall). They cater for the absolute novice right through to the more senior philatelists. They do exhibits, have trading and swapping, an auction and discuss matters of interest. 12 SA Military History Society Johannesburg Branch will meet in the auditorium of the Museum of Military History, Erlswold Way, Saxonwold, (next to the Zoo) on September 12 at 8pm. First event will be A Tale of two Rifles by Terry Willson and the main lecture will be Radar – How Awareness of the Unseen Helped to Win a War by Gil Jacobs. 14 STAINED Glass Workshops in the tranquil setting of Henley-on-Klip on September 14. Workshops last three to four hours and you will complete a sun catcher which is yours to keep.
