GALLERY: Alberton Day festival was fantastic

It set the bar high for the rest of our community’s 2018 festivals.

THIS year’s Alberton Day festival lived up to its expectations and with loads of entertainment for everyone, it was the most fun-filled event Alberton has seen so far this year.

For three whole days, from May 4 to 6, people of all ages from near and far could enjoy different live musical performances from renowned local artists, beer tents, flea market and food stalls, exhibitors, motor vehicle stands and even a mini theme park for the young at heart.

STAR STAGE: The Alberton Day stage was fit for a rock star.

On Friday, the highlight was the rock show that went on until the early morning hours. Saturday promised fun for everyone – the flea market was in full swing as well as the little theme park, and local feel-good music entertained everyone throughout the day. Sunday’s highlight was a delicious ox-braai that ended the event on a high note.

MINI THEME PARK: This amazing little theme park attracted visitors of all ages.

Some of the most popular music groups that performed at the festival included Vin Groovin, Fokofpolisiekar, Xanilee, Ghapi, Nadine, Karlien van Jaarsveld, Theuns Jordaan, Manie Jackson, Jason Bradley, Kurt Darren and Snotkop among plenty others. What a line-up.

EXHIBITOR: One exhibitor, Stephen du Preez, sold chilli sauce he made using his very own recipe. Yum!

The food stalls and flea market offered a wide variety of food, activities and products to buy.

Some popular food stalls sold biltong, homemade sweets, pancakes, hot dogs, chips, burgers and sandwiches, vetkoek, doughnuts, braai food, curry and even potjiekos among other dishes.

SUNSHINE AND SHOPPING: The flea market was in full swing on Saturday morning, selling goods for everyone.

Other popular stalls at the flea market sold items and activities such as horse riding, arts and crafts, costumes, toys, bags and other handmade accessories, wooden artworks, items with customised print work, bohemian furniture/ornaments and customised t-shirts among other things.

FLEAMARKET: The fleamarket was a great place to find interesting gifts and bargain buys. It attracted many customers, young and old.

The community had a great time at Alberton Day and agreed that they look forward to seeing what the next one will offer. This event set the bar high for the rest of our community’s 2018 festivals.

HORSERIDING: These beautiful horses were at the festival and people could enjoy riding on them.
FOOD COURT: The food (and drink) court was filling up quickly with hungry visitors.
