Celebrate World Tai Chi Day at Rietvlei Zoo Farm

One large benefit other than for health purposes is you don’t need expensive equipment or clothing.

WORLD Tai Chi Day 2017, organised globally and covering over 80 different countries from east to west, will be celebrated at Rietvlei Zoo Farm, Alberton.

The event will take place on Saturday, April 29, from 09:00 to 14:00.

This is the third year it will be held at Rietvlei Zoo Farm.

Participation is free.

“This is an open event to all the public to come experience and share the benefits of tai chi,” said Craig Boden from the Tai Chi Chuan Institute, Alberton.

Whether you are young or old, you can feel the benefits.

“The goals of promoting tai chi and qigong is to demonstrate the health benefits they give when you practise these forms of martial arts,” added Boden.

Boden explained: “The benefits of regular practice of tai chi is that it improves our senses, regulates the sugar levels, lowers blood pressure, calms the nervous system, improves circulation, strengthens the immune system and slows the effects of aging.

“One large benefit other than for health purposes is you don’t need expensive equipment or clothing. It can be practised anywhere as you don’t need a large space. It can be practised indoors or outdoors.”
