Ready to go for Charity Mile

Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile will take place on Saturday, November 5, at Turffontein.

AT the much anticipated Charity Mile Draw, which was conducted at Emperors Palace on Tuesday, October 25, the horses were unveiled and paired with the various charities and the celebrities.

The Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile will take place on Saturday, November 5, at Turffontein. Gates open at 11:00.

This popular Grade 2 race sees 16 racehorses each being paired with one of 16 celebrities, 16 media partners and, most importantly, the 16 charities which will all receive proportionate amounts of the R1-million prize money, with the winning charity receiving R150 000, the charity paired with the horse in second place receiving R100 000 and all the amounts received by the other 14 charities dependent on the allocated horse’s placement.

Caxton South, which includes the Alberton Record, Comaro Chronicle and Southern Courier is also participating.

In form Rabada has been paired with Amanda du Pont and the charity, Reahile Primary After Care Centre, with media partner Southern Courier.

Ready to run Romany Prince will have Nageng Primary After Care Centre as the charity for whom to make a dash for the finishing line, and celebrity Justin Strydom with media partner Comaro Chronicle.

The Alberton Record will have Michaella Russell as the celebrity and Peermont Hotel School as the charity for which Ten Gun Salute will run his utmost best.

“This event is a highlight on the Gauteng racing calendar and never fails to be a fun, exciting, successful race day that raises a lot of money for very worthy causes,” said Phumelela racing executive Clyde Basel.

“The field which will run in this race includes some South Africa favourites, but what’s more important is that everyone will actually be a winner on the day!
