Water Wednesday: Your 24-hour rainfall update

The summer rainfall season is upon us. Here’s a look at how much rain has fallen in the last 24 hours.

Some provinces have rejoiced at the drops of rain that have fallen, but whether it is enough to alleviate the current drought or have an effect on water restrictions is yet unknown.

North West Province had the most rainfall with 310mm of water while KwaZulu-Natal came second with 221mm. In third place is Free State with 130mm while Gauteng is fourth on the list with 120mm. Western Cape had the lowest rainfall amounting to 1mm in the past day.

Cape Town’s mayoral committee recently approved a recommendation to council to impose level three restrictions from November 1 and price increases from December 1. The city faces tougher water restrictions during the peak summer months.
