Party time at Tank Clinic

Hundreds of guests enjoyed the festivities with good food, good drink, good entertainment and good company.

TANK Clinic went all out to celebrate their birthday on September 16 and the business pulled out all the stops to celebrate 40 years of business.

Aside from the variety of good foods and drink, the entertainment was top-notch, including the music stylings of Georgetown and Watershed, and the comedy of Darren “Whackhead” Simpson.

The party even had different themes, like Hawaii, complete with beach sand, and a little beach hut bar, Germany with their bar maids, bratwurst and sauerkraut, and of course Africa, offering delicious wild meats, ‘pap en sous’, biltong and droëwors.

Oom Nick (Gerber), as the owner of Tank Clinic is fondly known, spared no expense to give his staff and their families the best party ever, cementing the emphasis he puts on all of them being one great big happy family.

Georgetown, a band with a bluegrass meets folk kind of feel, put everyone in a good mood with their upbeat tempo and brilliant musicality.

Whackhead followed them, announcing a prize-giving; Vic Ferreira won a weekend away, Donovan Pretorius won a Tank Clinic machine truck with lights and race car model, other prizes included a hamper with alcohol and even a big braai.

Whackhead gave us a piece of his mind before handing things over to South African legends, Watershed, singing favourites like ‘Indigo Girl’.

Tank Clinic, situated in Alrode, specialises in building tanks for oil and fuel transportation companies, locally and even across borders.

Starting out as a small company, they have grown in leaps and bounds in 40 years, becoming a powerhouse in the industry.

“We always make sure to build above specs, so quality exceeds all standards, I believe that is a big part of what has made us successful, our tanks are made to last,” said Oom Nick in a recent interview with the RECORD.

“Another important aspect is how I treat my staff; they are all my family and I have had several generations of families working here. If you treat your staff well and cultivate them to be good at what they do, success is almost guaranteed,” he added.
