Proudly coloured comedy show rocks

Hundreds of people flocked to the Emperors Palace's Theatre of Marcellus to get their dose of laughter.

THE Emperors Palace’s Theatre of Marcellus was jam-packed with a laughter-hungry audience at the event hosted by Stuart Taylor, who won the the Standard Bank Ovation Award for Comedy at the 2015 National Arts Festival.

The Proudly Coloured Comedy Show gave the diverse audience a fat dose of the coloured humour and proudly celebrated the progress among the coloured communities by highlighting some of the successful people making a positive mark to inspire youngsters from communities such as Eldorado Park.

SA Comics’ Choice Awards winner, Dillan Oliphant, and Virgil Prins, a stand-up comedian from Sophiatown, left the crowd struggling to catch their breath at the show that featured the very funny Tracey Lee Oliver, Hamish Kyd, and Shimmy Isaacs.

“The show is the first of its kind to showcase coloureds from all over South Africa on one stage without being vulgar. This event is about helping free a beautifully coloured disadvantaged race group that is the result of the love shared between black, Indian and white South Africans,” Dillan once told the Citizen newspaper.
