DEADPOOL is the number 1 movie in South Africa this week
DEADPOOL, the latest superhero blockbuster from Marvel Studios, reached the number 1 spot at the South African box office this past week. The film is now showing at Nu Metro The Glen and other cinemas nationwide. Moviegoers can also experience it on Scene Xtreme’s larger-than-life screen with superior sound at Nu Metro The Glen.
It had the 3rd biggest box office opening for a superhero-movie in South Africa, with an opening weekend figure of R9.3million – following closely behind the success of IRON MAN 3 and AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. Over 150 000 moviegoers went to see the film first over the Valentine’s Day-weekend locally.

Based on Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool.
Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humour, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
This highly anticipated superhero film stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano and Brianna Hildebrand who have been touring the world promoting it.
