MOTS hosts hunt for country’s brightest sparks

ON Saturday, February 6, The Mall of the South, Aspen Hills, will host The Dis-Chem Brain of 702/CapeTalk.
All trivia buffs are invited to enter the 2016 edition of one of South Africa’s longest running quiz shows – and to stand a chance of winning their share of R390 000. The annual competition, which will run over four weeks, will give those with a brilliant bank of general knowledge a chance to cash in and show off, both on-air and in front of a live audience at the weekly mall activations.
The mechanics of the competition are simple: the first two contenders in each of the regions are pitted against each other on the breakfast shows, to answer as many general knowledge questions as they can in 60 seconds.
The winner on each of the radio stations takes R1 000 and goes through to the next round in the following show. By the end of the day, the last contender standing is named the Brain of the Day and can claim another R1 000 Dis-Chem voucher if he or she can answer a bonus Dis-Chem question.
The Dis-Chem Brains of the Day from Monday to Friday gather at a shopping centre on the Saturday and from these participants, one each from 702 and CapeTalk, one winner each week earns an additional R5 000 and goes forward to the semi-finals, which will be held on Saturday, February 27.
The semi-final will determine the Dis-Chem Brain of 702 and the Dis-Chem Brain of CapeTalk and they will each pocket a cool R15 000, before facing off in a head-to-head telephonic battle on the stations’ breakfast shows, on Monday February 29.
The winner of this on-air contest will be named The Dis-Chem Brain of Brains and will carry off an additional R20 000.
Followers of the Brain of 702/CapeTalk are encouraged to get to the mall activations to experience the nerve-wracking excitement of the live quiz shows, ably hosted and judged by 702/CapeTalk presenters.
Each week in 702land one of the presenters will go head-to-head with shoppers at the mall, and the winner will be dubbed Brain of the Mall.
