Lots of family fun

The annual JhbSouth.co.za Family Festival and Expo will be taking place over two days, at Rietvlei Zoo Farm, on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25. This family outdoor event is to create awareness for local businesses as well as raise awareness about safety and crime prevention, whilst providing local residents with family fun and entertainment.

ALBERTON- The annual JhbSouth.co.za Family Festival and Expo will be taking place over two days, at Rietvlei Zoo Farm, on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25. This family outdoor event is to create awareness for local businesses as well as raise awareness about safety and crime prevention, whilst providing local residents with family fun and entertainment.

Enjoy the Mr and Miss South Beauty Pageant on Saturday, October 24, at 10:00. Registration opens at 09:00. Entries cost R100 pp and includes entrance into the farm for entrant. Age categories: two to six, seven to nine and 10 to teens, male and female. Saturday afternoons stage entertainment will include DJs, live music, dancers and safety and crime prevention demonstrations by the SAPS.

On Sunday, October 25, join in the CPF five kilometre fun walk/run fund-raiser, at 08:00. All funds go to the Community Policing Forum’s Victim Support Unit. Entry is R10 pp, with registration from 07:00 in the main parking area by the Seeff gazebo.

At 10:00, on the main stage, there will be a strongman competition. Sunday afternoon’s stage entertainment includes self-defence workshops, DJs, dancers and live seven piece band Ruby Tuesday, whose members include musicians from 80’s pop groups Cinema, Face-To-Face and Working Girls. Their sets include hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s, right up to current hits. Bring your camping chairs and gazebos and enjoy the afternoon fun.

There will be kiddies activities throughout both days, from 09:00 17:00. Come and meet Sammy Seeff, Zak and the Zoo Buddy. There will also be jumping castles, pony, train and tractor rides, zip lines, putt putt, face painting. Visitors can also meet wolf pups, farm animals and Hercules the friendly python.

Throughout both days you can visit the SAPS expo stand and get to know your local police force and watch canine demonstrations. There will also be a Motor Expo on both days and craft markets. Food and refreshments can be purchased. Alternatively you are welcome to bring your own picnic baskets or book a braai and bring your own braai food.

Entry fees: R30 per adult, R20 per child and R10 for pensioners.
