Winner crowned at Mel’s
The first ever winner of the Onesto Music Search was crowned at Mel's Bar and Grill on Friday.
ALBERTON – Mel’s Bar and Grill in Alberton North hosted a celebration for the winner of The Search Competition, created by Onesto Music, on Friday, October 2.
Ilana Grobbelaar, a Brakpan resident and full-time performer, entered the competition in July.
Ilana performed in eight rounds of the competition, between contestants from pubs across Gauteng, and placed second in the pub rounds. She then competed over two nights in the semi finals at Carnival City. She was chosen to be part of the top 11 performers and won first prize after performing at the Mardi Gras Theater at Carnival City on Wednesday, September 30.
Ilana received a R8 000 cash prize and a smart phone from Onesto Music, along with the title of first ever winner of The Search Competition. She performed a set of four songs for an appreciative audience at Mel’s and was congratulated by the two directors of Onesto Music, Reinhardt Massyn and Hardie van Niekerk, for her outstanding performance during the competition.
