Cocktails to keep the party going

The holidays are a favourite time of year for many people.

This cheery season is filled with parties and events that bring the spirit of the season out in everyone. As a part of these festivities there are some wonderful drinks that you can serve that fit the holiday theme perfectly.

Angelā€™s delight

Cream, triple sec and gin combine for an interesting cocktail delight. The Angelā€™s Delight is a wonderful dessert cocktail to serve at a dinner party.You will need: 30 ml cream, 20 ml triple sec, 20 ml gin and two to three dashes of grenadine.

What to do: Pour the ingredients into a shaker with ice cubes and shake well. Strain into chilled cocktail glasses.

Candy Cane

The Candy Cane is a really fun holiday cocktail and itā€™s also one of those that are fun to create. The mix is interesting, what with it being a base of berry-flavoured vodka with peppermint and cacao. The glass is rimmed with crushed candy canes or other peppermint candy.

You will need: 20ml berry flavoured vodka, 20ml peppermint schnapps, 20ml creme de cacao and 7ml of grenadine.

What to do: Pour the vodka, peppermint schnapps, Creme de Cacao and grenadine into a cocktail shaker with ice and shake well. Pour into a cocktail glass rimmed with crushed peppermint candy.

The Christmas Jones

This drink begins with a blend of the flavour ingredients and is topped off with Sprite for a little fizz, then garnished with fresh mint.

You will need: Four fresh strawberries, one part vodka, two teaspoons of superfine sugar, 140ml pineapple juice, Sprite and mint sprigs for garnish.

What to do: Pour the mix equally into two glasses. In a blender, whiz the vodka, strawberries, sugar and pineapple juice together. Top with Sprite. Garnish with a sprig of mint.
