Braai champ: Great prizes to be won
Calling all braai gurus in the South! Legendary braai icon, Jan Braai, is on a nationwide mission to find the best braai whizzes, showing their skills at selected Campworld stores in November.
JOHANNESBURG – Braai day competitions around South Africa will focus on four different categories: The perfectly braaied medium-rare steak, the best-tasting potjie, the most irresistible potbrood, and the most delicious braai-broodjie – this is what the judges at each event will be seeking.
The East Rand event takes place on Saturday November 8 at Sunseeker Caravans & Campworld Alberton, at Sunseeker Business Park, 8 Nansen Place, Tulisa Park.
Braai fires burn from 10:00 to 15:00. Winners in each category at the event will be awarded an exclusive trophy and will be crowned the champion by Jan Braai himself! Also up for grabs are a range of great prizes from Campworld.
In the steak category, all meat is provided – you only need to bring those top secret spices. For the potjie, contestants need to bring all the ingredients for their well-guarded family recipes. Plain dough will be provided for the potbrood (bring your own spices and other ingredients), and plain white bread will be supplied for the braai-broodjie – bring your own fillings. Don’t forget side dishes, salads and drinks for the whole family.
