Gauteng will be taken by storm when six of South Africa’s most highly acclaimed guitarists take to the stage at the newly improved Theatre of Marcellus, with the all-new Riders from the Storm performance on June 25.

To spice things up this chilly season, the show is something never seen before on South African stages – a guitar super-group of earth-shattering proportions. The electrifying show will feature new songs, collaborations and even more instruments with a guitar super-group comprising of the massively talented Mel Botes, Piet Botha, Albert Frost, Robin Auld, Nathan Smith and guest artist, Mauritz Lotz.

Riders From The Storm is an initiative undertaken by rock guitarist Mel Botes (wearing his producer’s cap), who is renowned for his craftsmanship on the electric guitar, his interpretations of legendary rock works, his original compositions and, more recently, his classical repertoire.

The brief to the musicians was simple – each should contribute three compositions to the group’s performance, in which that particular musician will play the lead guitar to accompaniment from the band. The musicians were given a choice of two original or two classic rock tunes. Furthermore, all the guitarists will contribute to four or five numbers where they will all perform together.
