Make your writing dream come true

Caxton, Alcatel One Touch and Brandfluent SA, announce the 2014 Caxton Writing Competition, now giving young people from the age of 14 to 25 a chance to realise their dream of becoming future writers.

JOHANNEBURG – The Caxton Creative Writing Competition is in its third year of running. It’s characterised by its incredible response, amazing opportunities and tons of giveaways.

The competition is set to take place from June 2 to October 31. For the first time it offers adults as well as learners the opportunity to showcase their writing, making it possible to turn their passion into a reality.

“Entering this unique competition allows future passionate writers, to stand a chance of securing an opportunity with Caxton.”

Young adults are required to submit essays that should be no longer than 800 words. There are specific themes which participants can write on and they may submit one essay on each theme.

“This worthy opportunity gives young writers the platform to show us what they are made of and it can only result in success.”

However, they may not write more than one story on the same topic.

Themes include:

· Pride – Your story should tell the readers why you are proud to live in Johannesburg – using descriptive words that paint a picture of your world will add value to your story.

· Celebrate Life, Celebrate Freedom – With South Africa celebrating 20 years of democracy, this is your opportunity to inspire South Africans with your words and paint a future of a united South Africa. You may also take an opportunity to celebrate South Africa’s achievements during 20 years of democracy.

· The Gentle Winter Frost – What does winter mean to you? Can you add a positive twist to winter? There is no restriction to your creativity, be as imaginative as you wish.

· Faces of Spring – What is spring to you? Use words to paint a perfect picture of what spring looks like.

· Any Topic of your choice – Choose any topic and be as creative as you would like to be.
