The success of TANGO FIRE has been phenomenal; it has toured the USA, Canada, Australia, Europe, Asia and South Africa to high acclaim.

JOHANNESBURG – Led by director of choreography German Cornejo, known to American audiences from his recent winning appearance with partner Gisela Galeassi on Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s Q’Viva!, the company will bring an all-new production exclusively to Joburg Theatre from February 4th 2014.

Barrio’s of Buenos Aires city into Cabaret before moving through the decades to showcase

Tango’s growing popularity as a contemporary dance form.

The TANGO FIRE company features Argentina’s new generation of tango dancers, including five recent world tango champions, in a sensational programme choreographed by Argentina’s hottest young choreographer German Cornejo.

The company’s ten dancers are accompanied on stage by four of Argentina’s most brilliant young musicians, Quarteto Fuego led by the sultry violin virtuoso Estefani Corsini.

As tango’s popularity on the contemporary entertainment scene increases, the TANGO FIRE company has cemented a reputation internationally as one of the most innovative and exciting practitioners of contemporary Tango in the world. Their exciting productions are all set against the musical backdrop of Astor Piazzolla, Mores, Gardel, Rodriguez and other tango masters.

Quarteto Fuego, the company’s quartet of brilliant musicians, provide the live music on the traditional instruments of tango, double bass, piano, violin and bandoneón. The band and dancers are accompanied by one of Argentina’s finest young singers, Jesus Hidalgo.

Performances for TANGO FIRE begin in The Mandela at Joburg Theatre on Tuesday February 4th and the limited season must close on Sunday February 23rd.
