Its latest offering, a French comedy with English sub-titles, is scheduled for release on the big screen from Friday, 10 January 2014 – and, it is the perfect title to end off the summer holidays as learners and teachers across the country prepare for the new school year!
Serial Teachers (Les Profs) is a French-language comedy that is set at one of the lowest-ranking French high schools in terms of the grades its students achieve. In an effort to turn things around at the poor-performing school, a collection of misfit teachers are hired and let loose on the students.
The Jules Ferry secondary school is seemingly beyond hope. The principal has tried throwing the best teachers he can find at the problem, but the students don’t seem able to get to grips with the matter of actually learning anything. As the last resort, the school administrator lays down the law: increase the grades of the student body by 50% in the next term or the doors will close for good.
Desperate and willing to resort to any method to turn things around, the principal does the unthinkable: he hands the teaching reins over to a group of ‘reprobates and crazies’ to try to get through to the students. All he can hope for now is that their outlandish and unconventional teaching methods may succeed in obtaining the improved results he desperately needs to ensure the future of the school.
Serial Teachers (Les Profs) is directed by Pierre François Martin-Laval. The film stars Arnaud Ducret, Christian Clavier, François Morel, Fred Tousch, Isabelle Nanty, Kev Adams, Raymond Bouchard and Stefi Celma.
