ALBERTON – JP Weber from Alberton is an up and coming star in the art of K1 Kickboxing and has made quite a name for himself under the watchful eye of his trainer Mike Laranjeira.
JP, training at Winchester Hills and known as JP “the Ruthless” Weber, has attained gold in all three of his latest fights in the ring and has quite an impeccable fighting record. In 2011 he was also invited to represent South Africa in Mauritius for an international tournament.
He started training at the age of 15 in the art of K1 kickboxing under the guidance of Laranjeira. In his career as trainer, Laranjeira, has brought together some of the very best K1 kickboxing champions in the business. His lifetime experience, skill, friendly enthusiasm and passion to train people with real kickboxing skills provide an encouraging and supportive environment qualifying him as one of the top coaches in the country.
Sometimes buying into people no-know else will, he trains them not only in the gym but in the school of life taking them from zero to hero. Devoting his entire life to the art he was recently awarded with a sword for his contributions over the years in the ever growing sport in South Africa.
His top student and current assistant trainer, JP Weber, quickly became a favourite. In the ring his special magnetism, attracting people to watch him perform his feats of athleticism can be described as breath-taking, unprecedented and inspiring. JP’s marquee appeal keeps the spectators spellbound with his unmatchable flair and energy. JP’s signature front kick has embarrassed even the most seasoned veterans.
His strike force and well skilled combinations in a proverbial “aggressive chess player” landscape of modern day kickboxing helped his opponent get a close-up view of the canvas in even his recent fights at a Fight Night tournament, Great North 3 tournament held on October 12 and Fight Night on November 2.
