The Alberton Boxing Club’s talented trio, Jacques du Plooy, Kiara Kilfoil, and Karien Els, made a lasting impact at the recent SA Championships in Tzaneen, Limpopo.
Under the guidance of coach Pieter Strydom, they represented the Gauteng team, showcasing their skills against top boxers from nine provinces.
Els stole the show, clinching the gold in the school-age category (66kg). Kilfoil won bronze in the junior girls’ category (66kg), while Du Plooy fought in the junior boys’ category (57kg) before bowing out in the quarterfinals.
Gauteng’s junior team claimed a second-place finish, with the school-age team securing third. The province’s outstanding performance earned them the trophy for best-organised province.
The boxing club congratulates the trio on their performances and wishes them continued success in their boxing careers.
